Love Letters to the Community February 2025!

Our newsletters might not be what you call proper love letters. But we do love to tell you how you, and our partner agencies effect positive change in the lives and healing outcomes.

Our nine county CAC region and ten county CASA service area help create a net of safety, security, care and welfare for children and families affected by abuse.

That’s a whole lot of places where families need the love and support from volunteers! Read our newsletters for more ways you can help!

How It Began, Where Are We Now in 2025?

As we start a new year its time to revisit how it began…

Advocacy Network for Children, formerly known as Children’s Action Network, is a not for profit organization. Our agency was established in 1990 as a Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Adams County. In 1999, the agency expanded and started its first Children’s Advocacy Center in Adams County. Since then, CAC programs have been added in Brown Cass, Hancock, Pike, McDonough, Morgan, Scott and Schuyler counties. CASA has also grown to include programs in Brown Cass, Hancock, Pike, Mason, Menard, Morgan, Scott and Schuyler counties. For more details, read our About Us page.

In the beginning, the agency focused on the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers to speak in the best interest of abused or neglected children in the court system. As the agency broadened its mission to serve abused children in the community, it opened its doors of the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) in Adams County.

Our mission 35 years ago matches our mission today… quite simply – to protect and uphold the rights of children when wrongs have been committed against them, to help abused or neglected children have safe permanent homes where they can thrive, to act as a powerful voice in these children’s best interests and to educate the public about the plight of abused children.

Our monthly newsletters serve as a reminder of what we have, and will continue to achieve. You can read them here. They’re interesting! And short! Give it a go!

Year in Review 2024

Snow Your Love this December!

December is typically associated with snow, preparing for the holidays, presents, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza celebrations, family get togethers and treats of all kinds.

But this upcoming season can be specially hard for families who are already facing difficulties. Providing gifts or that something special every parent wants to give their children and create loving memories can create added pressure for parents who are already experiencing struggles with housing, food, income, and medical and mental health insecurities. These stresses can increase the likelihood of abuse of all kinds.

You can help! Please, this season, consider making donations to your local food pantries, present drives, retirement homes, homeless shelters, and churches! Ease the burden if you can.

Raise your voice for children, sing the joys of this giving season and join us in improving the lives of children in our nine county service area.

If you want to donate directly to our organization, visit our website at www.advonet.org and click on the “Donate Now” button. All donations are eligible for tax deductions. Together, we can bring hope, promise, and healing to children and families in our communities.
